How much will a repair cost?
I work on a flat rate, which includes labor as necessary to complete maintenance and/or repairs, as well as typical repair and overhaul parts (varies depending on the model), “consumable” maintenance parts (gaskets, seals, O-rings), and assorted hardware (nuts, bolts, pins, &c).
For mixers that are shipped, the flat rate includes UPS Ground shipping both ways in the continental US.
The typical cost ranges from US$125 to US$275, depending on the mixer’s type, age, and condition. Please get in touch to request an estimate; include the mixer’s model number and serial number (if present, on the label under the base) and description of the symptoms; and I will be happy to help.
If additional parts are required to effect repairs, when possible this will be quoted at the time of estimate. I do not use parts markup as a profit center, and the cost to you will reflect the cost to me (including shipping for special-order parts, where applicable).
Do I have to bring my mixer in person?
I welcome drop-off (by appointment) for customers in Rhode Island or in driving distance in New England, as well as shipments from all over the continental US. UPS Ground shipping is included with the repair quote; when arrangements are made I will provide a prepaid shipping label and all you have to do is pack and ship the mixer.
Shipping requires use of the KitchenAid factory packaging in order to reduce the chance of costly damage. For some models this is not available and in that case I will provide detailed packing and shipping instructions. Otherwise, I will provide information on how to order the appropriate box from KitchenAid, if you need one. (It costs about US$20.)
Please get in touch to arrange shipment or make a drop-off appointment.
Do you have a warranty?
I don’t currently have a formal warranty; however, I stand behind my work and if you ever have a problem with a mixer that I have worked on, I will be happy to address it. (This doesn’t include misuse, abuse, or accident — but my workshop is a judgement-free zone and I am delighted to serve the needs of returning customers.)
Will you sell me a mixer?
Provisionally yes. If you want something specific that you can’t find on KitchenAid’s web site or on the secondhand market (eBay, thrift stores, Facebook Marketplace, etc), please get in touch and tell me what you’re looking for. I may have something on hand that will meet your needs.
